The virtual home of Mikkel Hippe Brun

I consider myself an entrepreneur. I am attracted to big projects with high impact on how we conduct business in a smarter way. I have been self employed most of my career. I was co-founder of a software development company specializing in XML database publishing techniques. I taught some of the earliest courses on XML and XSLT and have designed and implemented several advanced XML transformation solutions. I have also participated in a number of development projects as a programmer, but later ended up as project leader and Chief Technology Officer. I recently worked for six years as Chief Consultant at the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation where I was responsible for standards development related to a new invoicing law which was enacted in 2005. This initiative put Denmark on the leading edge of electronic invoicing worldwide. We exchange 1.25 million invoices every month! I have been working with building a SOA infrastructure to support e-procurement since early 2005. Such an infrastructure is now being rolled out across Europe in the PEPPOL project. My job has been to make sure that happens - and it will.

My short term goals are to build a world class company offering world class business transactions infrastructure.

My long term goal is to ensure that all private companies and all public sector institutions in the world are capable of exchanging electronic business transactions via an open and democratic infrastructure. It must be possible to connect on a foundation of open standards and open source.
